When you’re looking for a quick and flavorful dinner, Ground Beef Teriyaki Bowls are a fantastic choice. Tender ground beef, fresh vegetables, and rice in a savory teriyaki sauce that’s slightly sweet and just a little tangy.
It’s a great way to enjoy a takeout-inspired meal at home, and it’s healthier than most store-bought or restaurant options. And it couldn’t be easier to prepare, making it perfect for a weeknight meal or even meal prep for the week ahead.
Plus, it’s budget-friendly and uses ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. These simple ingredients, when combined, create a classic comfort food meal that you will want to make over and over again. You get a mix of protein, vegetables, and rice all in one bowl, so it’s a complete meal all in one dish.

Another bonus is how adaptable this recipe is – whether you’re cooking for just yourself, a partner, or a small family, it’s easy to adjust the portions or swap out ingredients for what you have on hand.
This Ground Beef Teriyaki Bowl recipe also has the added benefit of being customizable for dietary needs. Switch out the beef for ground turkey or chicken if you prefer.
If you don’t like broccoli, swap it out for zucchini or snap peas. Want more heat? Add extra red pepper flakes or a splash of sriracha. The recipe is flexible enough to make it your own, however you prefer.
And if you’re looking to make it gluten-free, I’ve included tips on how to easily modify the dish.
Make It A 30 Minute Meal
If you are like me, sometimes using a few ingredient shortcuts come in handy. Although I often make Jasmine rice in my rice cooker, there are days when I don’t even have time to do that.
Therefore I tend to keep a bag of the microwaveable rice in my pantry at all times. Then I can cook the rice in only 90 seconds.
Once the rice is ready, I can add it to my Ground Beef Teriyaki Bowls and dinner will be on the table in under 30 minutes! You can even do the same with cauliflower rice if you prefer a low-carb meal.
It is the perfect way to get dinner on the table on busy weeknights.

INGREDIENTS
- Ground Beef (1/2 lb.): I like using lean ground beef, such as 93/7, because it’s lower in fat and cooks up nicely without too much grease. *Save the other 1/2 lb. of ground beef for my Easy Ground Beef Casserole Recipe.
- Vegetables: 1/2 Red bell pepper, thinly sliced, Broccoli florets, chopped (1 cup), Shredded carrots (1/4 cup) Minced garlic (1 clove)
Teriyaki Sauce:
- Soy Sauce (3 tablespoons): You could also use coconut aminos. If you want to make the recipe gluten-free, use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce.
- Toasted Sesame Oil (1/2 tsp): Adds that signature nutty flavor.
- Sugar Free Pancake Syrup (1/2 Tbsp): A clever substitute for brown sugar to give the sauce its sweetness.
- Garlic Powder (1/2 tsp): For extra depth of flavor.
- Ground Ginger (1/8 tsp): Brings a subtle warmness to the dish.
Rice Blend:
- 1 cup of cooked Jasmine Rice:The jasmine rice pairs beautifully with the teriyaki flavors.
- Soy Sauce (1 Tbsp): To season the rice blend.
- Chopped Green Onions: For a fresh garnish.
- Red Pepper Flakes: Optional, for a little heat.

How to Make Ground Beef Teriyaki Bowls
Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
Start by heating a pan over medium heat and spraying it lightly with cooking spray. Add the ground beef to the pan and use a spatula to break it into small bite-sized pieces as it cooks. Cook the beef for 5-7 minutes, or until it’s fully cooked through and no longer pink in the center. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Step 2: Soften the Broccoli
While the beef is cooking, prepare the broccoli. Place the chopped florets in a microwave-safe bowl with a splash of water at the bottom. Cover and microwave for 1 minute. This softens the broccoli slightly, so it cooks faster when added to the pan.
Step 3: Cook the Vegetables
Once the beef is cooked, add the broccoli, thinly sliced red bell pepper, shredded carrots, and minced garlic to the pan. Stir everything together and cook for a few minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
Step 4: Make the Teriyaki Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce ingredients: soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free), toasted sesame oil, sugar free pancake syrup, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Once it’s combined, pour the sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture.
Stir everything together to coat evenly, and let the mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cooks, soaking into the beef and vegetables.

Step 5: Prepare the Rice
Cook the jasmine rice according to the package instructions. Then pour the rice into a medium size bowl and then season with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, chopped green onions, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes (if using). Toss everything together to combine.
Step 6: Assemble the Bowls
Divide the rice blend between two bowls. Top each bowl with the teriyaki beef and vegetable mixture. If desired, garnish with extra green onions, red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of soy sauce or Sriracha (my favorite) for added flavor.
Tips for Making This Recipe Gluten-Free
If you’re following a gluten-free diet, it’s easy to adapt this recipe. Simply swap out the soy sauce for tamari or a certified gluten-free soy sauce. Many soy sauces contain wheat, so be sure to check the label. The rest of the ingredients in the recipe are naturally gluten-free, making this a great option for anyone who needs to avoid gluten.
Jasmine rice is naturally gluten-free. Quick cooking rice, such as Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice is also typically safe, but it’s always a good idea to confirm just in case there are hidden additives or preservatives.
Storing and Reheating
If you’re making this recipe for meal prep, divide the finished dish into equal portions. Store the portions in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
To reheat, microwave for 1-2 minutes until heated through. You may want to add a splash of soy sauce or water before reheating to keep the dish moist.

As you can see Ground Beef Teriyaki Bowls are a simple, delicious, and versatile meal that’s perfect for any day of the week. With its combination of savory beef, fresh vegetables, and a flavorful teriyaki sauce, it’s a dish that’s sure to satisfy the craving for a classic comfort food take out meal.
Whether you’re cooking for two, meal prepping, or just looking for a quick dinner idea, this recipe has you covered. Give it a try and enjoy an easy to make, homemade meal packed with flavor!
